  • For most drivers of light trucks and SUVs, all-season tires present the perfect option for most driving situations. All-season tires are designed for a compliant ride, low noise, long tread life, dependable traction in wet or dry conditions, and light snow and handling that is consistent and predictable. All-season tires might not be perfect or a do-all solution, but for most situations and most drivers, they’re the right prescription. Not surprisingly, there are all kinds of all-season light truck tires on the market at about every price point you can think of.

One of the better light truck all-season tires, from our experience, is the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT. The Wild Spirit Sport HXT delivers value and performance that are surprisingly good considering its affordable price. But don’t just take our word for it, let’s go in for a closer look with this Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT review:

    Features and Benefits

Here are just some of the design features of the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT that make it such a great performer and a great value:

    • Advanced rubber compound is designed for long wear and good traction
    • Extra-wide circumferential grooves work as a system with angled grooves to divert water away from the tire’s contact patch and resist hydroplaning on wet roads
    • Solid center rib helps enhance straight-line stability at highway speed, as well as steering response
    • Closed shoulder helps reduce highway noise as well as standing up to the inertia and forces of cornering and braking
    • Tread pitch is computer-tuned to suppress certain frequencies and resonances to keep road noise low
    • The contact patch is optimized to put the most rubber in contact with the road for great handling, short braking distances, good road manners, and even wear
    • Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life
    • Zigzag sipe pattern multiplies traction in wet or wintry conditions
    • M+S rated for mud/snow traction

    Pros and Cons

So, is this Eldorado tire the right choice for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s pros and cons.

    PROS:

    • Ride quality is surprisingly supple
    • Handling properties are predictable and neutral
    • Generous warranty coverage
    • Great road manners at highway speed

    CONS:

    • Some drivers report high noise levels on some pavement surfaces
    • Should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions
    • The tire is not very good in off-road driving

SimpleTire’s view on Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT tires

The field is so crowded with all-season tires for light trucks and SUVs, but the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT is up there with some of the best of them regarding value and performance. The solid center rib gives this tire a nice secure feel on the highway, with the straight-line stability of an armored car. Ride quality is forgiving over rough pavement, with little vibrations and roughness making its way to the passenger compartment. Steering feedback is good and the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT is never sluggish in its response, but it also isn’t jittery and overly sensitive, keeping its composure on rough or irregular pavement surfaces. The 50,000 mile warranty is a rarity for tires at this price point, thanks in part to that closed shoulder that encourages even treadwear and to that long-wearing tread formulation.

Cornering is quite good up to the limits of a vehicle’s handling dynamics. Road manners are civilized, without a need for constant correction at highway speed – a very nice trait to have for long trips on the interstate. Some drivers do report more noise on certain pavement surfaces. While the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT falls off somewhat in traction in mud or snow, that’s pretty common for all-season tires in general. All in all, we at SimpleTire feel that the Eldorado Wild Spirit Sport HXT is a great choice for an all-season tire for trucks, SUVs, and crossovers, at a price point that won’t burn up your kids’ college fund.

I'm very happy so far. Haven't had much of chance to use them in wet or winter weather, but we're very pleased.

Have only had them on my vehicle for 1 1/2 months really do like them. Have not had them long enough for tread wear or winter.

I bought these as a cheaper, more aggressive option on my 04 Dodge Ram 2500. I don't drive the truck much so i can comment much on tread wear. But that being said, tread life was not a high concern as I needed off-road traction more. In snow they have been good, and mud has been good to. They do have some road noise but I expected that.

I bought these for a 2004 Ram 2500 after a coworker (has these on a 2015 F150) recommended them. I wanted something with more aggressive tread as my truck is a secondary driver and often off-road in farm use. Tires mounted and balanced nice, road noise was less than I expected! I only put 4-6000 miles on my truck in a year so can't really comment on tread life yet. Traction in snow was good, I got myself stuck in snow that was up to my axles (stock truck, stock tire size, limited slip rear) pulling a loaded 14ft dump trailer locked it in 4wd and walked right out. Mud/soft ground traction was also good. Ride quality...it's a 3/4 ton work truck, it's not supposed to ride nice. Mine are load range E, so made for work use.

THESE TIRES ARE SO LOUD!!! Seriously, ive never been someone to even notice tire noise, until putting these guys on my car. I even took my car to the dealership because I was hearing a noise, and I couldn't believe it was the tires. The guy at the dealership was also surprised. They are cheap and the tread life so far seems ok, but the noise is unbearable without the music up loud. The wet traction is also worrisome now that they have some use on them, when the tread was deeper it was ok, but now I'm 15-20k miles in, and I'm starting to lose traction at traffic lights in wet conditions.

Great value! These tires ride so smoothly and are more quiet than the BF Goodrich tires they replaced. I will definitely buy them again!! I strongly recommend.

The traction has been great, however I was surprised that the tread life did not last long. Especially on which it states it should accomplish.
